Illinois VFW Riders

Article I
Name


The name of this activity unit will be known as the VFW Riders of Illinois.

Article II
Purpose

The purpose of this activity is to be a social and civic association for VFW members and all auxiliary members in good standings.


Article III
Membership

Section (1) All members must belong to an Illinois VFW Post or Auxiliary. You do not have to ride or own a motorcycle.

Section (2) All members must be in good standing by having their VFW or Auxiliary dues paid up.

Section (3) Only VFW members will wear the VFW Riders Maltese Cross Patch. Auxiliary members will wear the Auxiliary Riders Patch.

Article V
Officers

Section (1) Officers will consist of the following:
1.State Motorcycle Director
2.Captains
3.Lieutenants or Chairman

Section (2) The State Commander will appoint the Motorcycle Director. Each district will appoint a Captain. Each Post will appoint a Lieutenant or Chairman.
Section (3) If a district or post has more than one individual wanting to hold these positions, members from the district will vote on a captain. Post members will vote on a Lieutenant or chairman.



Article VI
Duties of Officers


Section (1) State Director
1.Will notify captains and lieutenants of major state rides
2.Will assist in coordination of rides when asked by any member
3.Will meet with captains, when ever possible, upon their request
4.Will organize the annual Vander Clute Memorial Ride to the VFW National Convention or appoint someone to do so. 

Section (2) Captains
1.Will assist his or her lieutenants / chairman in coordination of rides
2.Will host at least one ride a year in support of their District Commanders Special Project
3. Meet with lieutenants / chairman during their district meetings to discuss upcoming events and coordinate rides


Section (3) Lieutenants / Chairman
1. Notify captains and other lieutenants of rides you are hosting

Article VII
Meetings

Section (1) The State Motorcycle Director will have two meetings a year to be held at the C of A conference. All Ride Captains from the Districts and Lieutenants from the Posts should attend.

Section (2) Order of Business
1.Introduction of guests and new members
2.Minutes of previous meeting
3.Reports of Officers and Committees
4.Old Business
5. New Business
6.Good and Welfare of Comrades


Article VIII
Amendments

Section (1) All proposed changes to the Illinois VFW Riders By - Laws shall be presented in writing to the Director.

Section (2) The director will notify all captains and chairmen of proposed changes no later than 10 days prior to the next meeting at C of A. (Counsel of Administration)

Section (3) Changes to the By - Laws will be discussed and voted on at the Illinois VFW Riders Meeting at C of A
